Mark Sharman is a timid 17-year-old high school student with a passion for musical theater and a dream of performing on stage, yet something keeps him from pursuing it. When an opportunity arises to audition for his school’s upcoming production, Mark finds himself unable to take the first step. While his best friend Carly and his father encourage him to pursue his passion, a mysterious, human-shaped figure cloaked in black relentlessly tears Mark down and does everything it can to stop him. The figure reminds Mark of his insecurities and his painful past experiences, challenging the encouragement he receives and making him question whether he truly belongs on stage. As the audition approaches, Mark finds himself caught between the voices telling him to move forward and the one urging him to turn back, forcing him to decide whether he can find the courage to take the stage, even when his fear tells him otherwise.
